The Rematch: Ninja and Kung Fu Fighter Clash Again!

The two of them faced off as they did before. This time, they faced each other in uniform, and having faced the other before, with equal respect. This was a private battle for the two fighters. All of the other students had gone home already, with few exceptions including the other students of the dojo, but they were busy with their own practice, and neither fighter paid much attention to them now, as each stared his opponent in the face knowing what would come next.

For Taro, he felt a bond with Aimoto, despite barely knowing him. Having been his target and having been his opponent just the other day, he could not help but feel that strange affection that a fighter feels for his opponent, that distinctly odd connection felt between two equals that must face each other.

Taro readied his stance, as did Aimoto. Once again, Aimoto took a strong dance, and Taro took a fluid stance in response.

They didn't need Master Tao Zing to tell them to begin this time. Both fighters instinctively began the fight before any beginning was called, rushing at the other to gain ground.

The fight started off with a powerful kick from Aimoto. As he came rushing in, he leaped in the air and let the force of his fall fuel a powerful roundhouse aimed downward at Taro. Taro saw this, however, and rolled out the way but was confronted with another kick when he came back up.

Taro quickly stepped out of the way and redirected the blow with a well placed block, leaving Aimoto exposed. Taro took the opportunity and went for the counter-strike, but Aimoto had anticipated that already and took a step back and out of the way.

Taro was on him in an instant, throwing blow after blow, a few punches and the occasionally a kick or two, but nothing got through. Having fought Taro in the past, it seemed as though Aimoto was more than ready to block each attack.

One attack nearly got through, and Aimoto, who had been blocking and dodging moves in a circle around the room, quickly jumped back and prepared a counter attack.

Taro knew it was coming, and pushed forward, ready to dodge it at any time. As Taro came in for another strike, Aimoto shot his fist out at Taro, forcing him to duck, but as he did, Aimoto's knee came up as well, striking Taro in the stomach and pushing out all the air in his lungs.

As Taro flew back, he quickly recovered, being used to taking strong blows from all the times he sparred with Master Komatsu, but he was thrown off by the blow none-the-less. It seemed to him as if he was fighting a completely different person than before. It was as if Aimoto had been studying Taro's style for months just to find the weaknesses in his style. But the two of them had only ever fought once!

Taro readied his stance again. He knew this match was going to be much harder than the last!

What is a Ninja?

There is a lot of misconception about what a ninja is.

A ninja is a weapon. A ninja is a warrior.

First appearing in writing as early as 4th century according to some history, though it is hard to place the beginning of the ninja, and most scholars agree that they emerged around the 7th-10th century. According to most Asian historians, the ninja first developed in opposition to the elite samurai during the Heian Dynasty (794-1185).

By the 15th century, the role of the ninja was primarily hired mercenary or espionage. By this time, there was already boundless myths about ninjas, calling them demons and giving them mystical powers which were widely believed to be true, but in all reality, ninjas were very trained in silence and stealth and could easily hide or slip away quickly and unnoticed in a way that would lead others to believe they were magical.

Our story presupposes a modern Japanese society where ninjas have managed to survive and continue traditional methods of teaching and hired by clients and used as weapons and tools of espionage and mercenary. Taro is one such ninja, growing up in a civilization of ninjas long-thought to be extinct. But when Taro begins his first ninja mission, his whole world gets turned upside down.
