Espionage Disguise

Taro raked at the ground with his hands, covering any visible signs of him being there with dirt and grass. Upon close observation, his trap was obvious, but in the shadows of the night, to unsuspecting patrolmen, he was as invisible clouds in the night sky.

He raked at the ground and covered himself with it until he knew the trap was set. The only thing to do now is to wait for the perfect moment.

The night grew colder, and the dirt didn't help. Taro waited patiently and still for the patrol to pass by his position. Minutes grew long, and time stood still, as the fated moment of ambush took place. Then it began...

The thumping of pacing came from afar and grew louder as he waited in wait. Faint sounds of organized breathing let him know how fast they were approaching. Hidden under the cold ground, he knew it was only a matter of time before they would pass.

Louder. Louder. Closer. Closer. The patrol drew near as Taro slowed his breathing. The sound of his heartbeat synchronizing to the sound of their footsteps.

Finally, the time was upon him. He could hear the footsteps, merely a few paces away from his ambush.

Taro sprung from his hideout and swiftly brought down one of the guards, placing a swift kick to the pack of his head, insuring that he wouldn't be waking up for some time.

The other guard, letting out a quick gasp was quickly disposed of when Taro locked the large man in a headlock, depriving him of air until he fell limp in the ninja's arms. Pressed for time, Taro quickly began to strip the man of his clothing. His uniform would serve as a useful disguise.

Taro ripped the jacket off and put on the man's shirt. He wrapped himself in the jacket, and equipped himself with the man's suit. Finally, he took the man's radio and put in the man's earpiece, which would provide him with adequate information of what was going on, and therefore, enough time to evade any plans for capture. Taking the man's gun, he was completely in disguise and ready to infiltrate the building.

He quickly began to inject both men with a sleeping serum which would ensure that they would stay asleep for at least a few hours, and burying them in the trap he had dug to hide himself, he ensured that they would not be found at least until they woke up.

Finally, the plan was in action, and he was ready to gather more info on his target and to begin understanding what this whole mission was all about.

What is a Ninja?

There is a lot of misconception about what a ninja is.

A ninja is a weapon. A ninja is a warrior.

First appearing in writing as early as 4th century according to some history, though it is hard to place the beginning of the ninja, and most scholars agree that they emerged around the 7th-10th century. According to most Asian historians, the ninja first developed in opposition to the elite samurai during the Heian Dynasty (794-1185).

By the 15th century, the role of the ninja was primarily hired mercenary or espionage. By this time, there was already boundless myths about ninjas, calling them demons and giving them mystical powers which were widely believed to be true, but in all reality, ninjas were very trained in silence and stealth and could easily hide or slip away quickly and unnoticed in a way that would lead others to believe they were magical.

Our story presupposes a modern Japanese society where ninjas have managed to survive and continue traditional methods of teaching and hired by clients and used as weapons and tools of espionage and mercenary. Taro is one such ninja, growing up in a civilization of ninjas long-thought to be extinct. But when Taro begins his first ninja mission, his whole world gets turned upside down.
